Follow-Up Sequences

Automate follow-ups to convert more prospects into customers.

Last updated: Nov 26, 2025

Why Follow-Ups Matter

Most sales happen after multiple touchpoints. The stats don't lie:

  • 44% of salespeople give up after one follow-up
  • 80% of sales require 5+ follow-ups
  • The average response rate increases 30% with each follow-up
  • Automated follow-up sequences ensure no lead falls through the cracks.

    Anatomy of a Follow-Up Sequence

A typical sequence includes 3-4 messages:

Message 1 (Day 0): Initial outreach - your main pitch

Message 2 (Day 2-3): Gentle bump - "Did you see my message?"

Message 3 (Day 5-7): Value add - share something helpful

Message 4 (Day 10-14): Final attempt - different angle or breakup

Stop the sequence when they reply (positive or negative).

    Setting Up Sequences

    1. Go to Campaigns → New Campaign (or edit existing)

    2. After writing your initial message, click "Add Follow-up"

    3. Set the delay (days until follow-up sends)

    4. Write your follow-up message

    5. Repeat for additional follow-ups (recommend 2-3)

    6. Enable "Stop on reply" to auto-pause when they respond

    Follow-Up Message Templates

    Follow-up #1 (Day 2-3) - The Bump:

"Hey {name}, just bubbling this up! Let me know if you'd like to chat about [topic]."

    Follow-up #2 (Day 5-7) - Value Add:

"Thought this might be helpful - [relevant tip/resource]. Happy to share more if interested!"

    Follow-up #3 (Day 10-14) - The Breakup:

"I won't keep bugging you! If timing isn't right, no worries. I'm here if things change. 🙌"

    Timing Your Follow-Ups

    Optimal timing for follow-up messages:

First follow-up: 2-3 days (shows persistence without being pushy)

Second follow-up: 4-5 days after first (give them space)

Third follow-up: 7-10 days after second (final gentle push)

Don't: Send multiple follow-ups in the same day or within 24 hours

    Vary Your Approach

    Each follow-up should feel different:

  • Change the angle or hook
  • Offer different value
  • Try a different tone (more casual, more direct)
  • Include social proof or case studies
  • Ask a different question
  • If the same approach didn't work, trying it again won't either.

    When to Stop Following Up

    Know when to move on:

    - They explicitly say "not interested" - remove from sequence immediately

    - They've blocked you or reported spam

    - After 3-4 unanswered follow-ups

    - If they ask you to stop - always respect this

Continuing to message uninterested people hurts your account and reputation.

    Measuring Follow-Up Performance

    Track how your sequences perform:

  • Which follow-up message gets the most replies?
  • What's the response rate per sequence stage?
  • Are people responding to follow-ups more than initial messages?
  • What's the optimal delay between messages?
  • Use this data to continuously optimize your sequences.
