Last updated: Nov 26, 2025
Types of Account Issues
Understanding what you're dealing with:
Action Block - Temporary restriction on specific actions (DMs, follows). Usually lifts in 24-48 hours.
Temporary Suspension - Account access temporarily limited. Can last days to weeks.
Shadowban - Your content/DMs aren't shown to others. Hard to detect, usually temporary.
Permanent Ban - Account completely disabled. Rare if you follow guidelines.
Immediate Steps When Restricted
When you notice an account issue:
1. Stop all automation immediately - Don't send another message
2. Don't panic - Most restrictions are temporary
3. Document what happened - Screenshot any warnings
4. Complete any verification if Instagram requests it
5. Wait at least 24-48 hours before any account activity
6. Do NOT create a new account on the same device/IP
Action Block Recovery
Action blocks are the most common issue. To recover:
Appealing a Suspension
If your account is suspended:
1. Open the Instagram/X app and look for appeal options
2. Submit an appeal explaining you're a legitimate user
3. Provide any verification requested (ID, selfie, etc.)
4. Wait for their response (can take days to weeks)
5. If denied, you can submit additional appeals
6. Be patient and persistent - many bans are reversed on appeal
Preventing Future Issues
To avoid getting restricted again:
- Reduce volume: Start with 50% of what you were doing
- Increase delays: Add more time between messages
- Vary patterns: Don't send at the same time every day
- Improve content: Generic messages trigger spam filters
- Warm up properly: Any account that's been restricted needs extra care
- Use quality leads: Avoid messaging fake/inactive accounts
Signs of an Impending Ban
Watch for these warning signs:
- Increased login challenges/verification requests
- Temporary action blocks becoming more frequent
- Messages being "pending" or not delivered
- Sudden drop in engagement or responses
- Security emails about "unusual activity"
If you see these signs, slow down immediately.
When to Use a New Account
Sometimes starting fresh is the best option:
Important: Don't create a new account on the same device/IP as a banned account. Use a different device or wait at least 30 days.
